The Acropolis Museum invites you all to experience a festive season full of interactive programs for children, evening gallery tours for adults, Christmas music, special gifts at the Shop and Christmas treats at the restaurant.
 

Sound-stories for strange divine births

The wisest of all goddesses was born from the head of her father! The strongest of all heroes, while infant, strangled two gigantic snakes! Ancient Greek myths are so strange but at the same time so fascinating!

The Museum invites children and their attendants to take part in an interactive festive program for divine births; to express themselves through music and to create an audio background to frame the stories.

The program is carried out by the Acropolis Museum in collaboration with the musician/music-educator Chara Asimina for participation in the intergenerational seminar “Across Generations” organized by the Goethe- Institute Athens.

• Ages: For children 4-11 years old
• Days & hours: Wednesday 29/12 & Thursday 30/12, 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. & 2:30 p.m. (in Greek only).
• Registration: Refer to the Information Desk on the same day. Limited to 30 visitors per program. First-in first-served.
• Cost: Free participation for children & 5€ for parents/escorts.

Evening tours and traditional recipes

The Museum’s archaeologists expect you every Friday (except for 24/12 and 31/12) for a captivating walk through its halls, to introduce you to the fascinating stories hidden in the treasures of the Museum’s galleries. The tour takes place at 6 p.m. in English and at 8 p.m. in Greek (participation: 5€). For your registration, refer to the Information Desk on the day of the tour. To complete your experience, we recommend you enjoy a festive menu lunch or dinner at the second floor restaurant (from 16/12 until 6/1). Join us also at the restaurant every Friday and Saturday until midnight (except for 24/12, 25/12, 31/12 and 1/1) for a delicious dinner over the beautiful views of the Acropolis hills. Strange creatures in the Acropolis Museum

Every Sunday (except for Sunday 26/12), join us with your children to discover the strange creatures in the Museum! What is truly the Hippalektryon? A rooster or a horse? A real mystery! And what about Centaur, Typhon, Triton and so many others? Creatures of the earth, the sea and the air, creations of the imagination of ancient people that invite us in a game of exploration, observation and knowledge. Children will be given materials to take home and create their own strange creatures. Don’t forget to take photographs of your artworks and upload them on acropolismuseum kids!

Hidden stories of 20+1 masterpieces

Discover with the Museum’s archaeologists the hidden stories of 20+1 masterpieces every Saturday (except for 25/12 and 1/1). Myths and fables, folklores and traditions, historical milestones and human stories transform into art and weave a vivid experience during an outstanding walk in the Museum’s galleries. The gallery talk takes place at 10:30 a.m. in English and at 12:30 p.m. in Greek (participation: 5€). For your registration, refer to the Information Desk on the day of the tour.
