Fusiform unguentarium found in 1955 on the south slope of the Acropolis. It is mended from three fragments. The base is flat-bottomed and around its junction with the tall, solid foot runs a shallow groove. The cylindrical neck is tall and narrow. The rim, which was deformed during the vessel’s firing, is downturned. The surface is grey and decorated with horizontal white bands.

Unguentaria were used for holding and transporting perfume oils as well as various other liquids and solids, such as honey, mastic and spices. Very often fusiform unguentaria were wrapped in wicker mesh that protected them from breaking and their lid was probably made of some perishable material, like wax or cork.
