A More Perfect Union: American Artists and the Currents of Our Time

The Acropolis Museum hosts the traveling exhibition “A More Perfect Union: American Artists and the Currents of Our Time” organized by the U.S. Embassy in Athens, in collaboration with the Art in Embassies office of the U.S. State Department. The exhibition is under the auspices of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture & Sports, it is a part of the Democracy Collection of the Art in Embassies, and includes works of some of the most respected contemporary artists in America, including Bruce Nauman, Yoko Ono, Christine Sun Kim, Edward Ruscha and Carrie Mae Weems. The exhibition focuses on issues of equality, freedom, justice and other founding principles of democracy. The Democracy Collection is made possible by its partners, The Boeing Company, the Ford Foundation, and the Doris Duke Foundation, as well as United Airlines, Microsoft, AT&T, Salamandar Hotels and Resorts, and individual philanthropists and collectors who have donated time, funds and artworks to this effort.
