Lower part of a statue depicting a seated goddess, perhaps Athena. It was found southeast of the Parthenon in 1887.

The goddess is seated on a compact backless throne with her feet placed on a footrest. The throne’s armrests and feet were inserted, fixed in the holes still discernible on the marble. At the seat’s back side an imprint of a design with rosettes and triangles in a red rectangle is preserved.

The goddess is dressed in a chiton and himation decorated with rosettes, bands and meander pattern on the garments’ edges. With her left hand, sporting a relief bracelet, she pulls her chiton aside and on her feet she wears sandals with relief soles and red straps. Traces of red colour are preserved on her clothes, the throne and the footrest, although, according to previous written comments, residue of green paint was once also apparent. The statue head Ακρ. 659 had been attributed in the past to this statue.
