Small statue of a Kore, reassembled from four non joining fragments. The biggest part of the head, the forearms and the feet are missing. The marble’s surface is severely damaged and the statue’s back side is sculpted rudimentary.

The Kore is clad in a long chiton with sleeves. The chiton’s upper part forms a multitude of vertical, thin undulations. With her right hand she would have pulled her chiton aside to facilitate her step, while with her left she would have held her offering to the goddess. Her hair falls down her back in soft waves, except of three long curls that frame each side of her face and spill to the front covering her breasts. The traces of red colour preserved on her hair, probably constitute the undercoat over which the final hue was applied.

It has been suggested that this Kore relates to a base in the form of a fluted column kept today in the Epigraphical Museum of Athens (EM 6249). The column preserves the inscription: ΕΝΔΟΙΟΣ ∶ ΕΠΟ[ΙΕΣΕΝ]. ΟΦΣ[ΙΑΔΕΣ ∶] ΑΝΕΘΕΚΕΝ ∶ ΗΟ Ἀ[– – – ΤΟΔ ΑΓΑΛΜΑ].ΦΙΛΕΡΓ[ΟΣ ∶] ΕΠΟΙΕΣΕΝ meaning “Endoios made this statue, Ophsiades dedicated it, Philergos made it”.

The mention of two different sculptors might perhaps be explained as a demand issued by the dedicant who wanted to add the name of Endoios, the renowned artist, on a creation made by Endoios' pupil Philergos who worked in his workshop.
