Parts of a little master cup decorated in the black-figure technique. They were found on the Acropolis but not all of them can be joined. The vase was covered on the interior with shiny, black glaze.

The exterior is decorated on both sides with a depiction of Athena on a quadriga placed between two large palmettes. The goddess is clad in a peplos, aegis and an Attic-type helmet. The horses are rendered with black colour except for one, which is painted white.

On the vase’s rim an etched inscription survives stating: [H]IEΡON TEΣ AΘΕ[ΝΑΙΑ]Σ ΣOΣIAΣ ANEΘΕΚΕΝ that means “Sanctuary of Athena, dedicated by Sosias”. Three more written inscriptions are preserved on the vase: the word ΚΑΛOΣ (handsome) on both sides of the kylix and ΗΟ ΠΑΙΣ (the young man) on one of the sides, just in front of the horses pulling Athena’s chariot.
