Part of a loutrophoros-hydria decorated in the red-figure technique. It was found in 1957 in the Sanctuary of the Nymphe in fragments and was reassembled.

The vase is decorated with an epavlia scene. The bride receives wedding gifts in her new house. Wrapped in her himation and with her hair gathered in a sakkos, she is sitting on a chair holding a box decorated with branches. Two women offer her a similarly decorated box. Green branches and wreaths, symbols of prosperity and fertility, were used to festively decorate presents and areas of the house but also adorn the newlyweds. The winged female figures that frame the scene possibly imply the bride’s “flight off” to her new life which has just begun.
