Part of a loutrophoros decorated in the black-figure technique. It was found in 1957 in the Sanctuary of the Nymphe in fragments, was pieced together and restored.

On the neck of the vase two opposing, sitting Sphinxes are depicted alongside swans and floral motifs. The vase’s body is decorated with a procession of four women carrying hydriai to fill them with water. The first one is also holding a branch thus signifying the ritualistic character of the scene, since branches were used in weddings ceremonies. A bearded man, wrapped in his himation, follows the procession. On the other side of the vase Sirens and swans are depicted. The lowest part of the loutrophoros’ body is covered with rays and its base is highlighted with black paint.
