Part of a loutrophoros decorated in the black-figure technique. It was found in 1957 in the Sanctuary of the Nymphe in fragments and was pieced together.

On the neck of the vase a man conversing with a woman are depicted. Behind each one stands another man. On the vase’s body Hermes, wearing his characteristic winged sandals, is portrayed leading Hera, Athena and Aphrodite to Paris -who is not depicted- so that he can decide which one is more beautiful. The lower part of the loutrophoros’ neck and body is accentuated with geometric motifs and the area between the handles is adorned with rosettes, rendered in the silhouette technique on one side. The uneven colouring of the vase is a result of its bad placement in the ceramic kiln during firing.
