Part of a female figurine found in 1957 in the Sanctuary of the Nymphe. It comes from a loutrophoros of the 4th cent. BC decorated in the red-figure technique and added figurines.

The figurine depicts a seated woman dressed in a fine chiton that showcases her body. She has a veil on her head, partly covering her hair which retains red colour, is parted in the middle and gathered in a low bun. With her right hand the woman might have been adjusting her garment, while in her left she was probably holding a mirror. Most likely she is the bride depicted getting ready before the wedding feast. The figurine’s front side was made in a mould whereas the back side was left unfinished so that it could be directly placed on the loutrophoros’ body.
