Fragmentarily preserved plaque painted in the black-figure technique that depicts Athena. It was unearthed in September 1888 during the Acropolis excavations conducted in front of Parthenon's south side.

The goddess turns to the viewer’s left. She is dressed in chiton, aegis and has an Attic-type helmet on her head. Her right arm would have been stretched out to the front and she would have held a shield in her left hand. The shield emblem was in the form of two birds that face one another and stand on a double palmette. Two narrow black bands on the plaque’s top are part of the plaque’s painted frame. Added white and red colours have been used for rendering other details.
