On Wednesday 20 June 2012, the Acropolis Museum celebrates its third birthday. The exhibition areas will remain open from 8 a.m. until 12 midnight. The restaurant will be open during the same hours. On this occasion, admission will be reduced (3 euros) for all visitors.
A musical journey to Greek and international music creation
From 11 a.m. until 8 p.m., visitors will have the opportunity to discover small music ensembles and distinguished soloists inside the Museum areas, performing ancient music, music of the Renaissance, Baroque, Classical and Romantic eras and separate works of the 20th century.
Ensembles participating: Expromte, Guitarte, Violin/Piano Duet (Papayannakis-Mantzouratou), Ritornello, Greek Bands Instruments by M. Karpathios and G. Lykouras, Music band "Golden Phorminx", Woodwind Quintet Q-Innegal, Mandolin/Guitar Duet, Violin/Piano Duet (Christodoulou-Neofytidou), Music band 'Kitharis' from the Philippos Nakas Conservatory, Trio Solvista, Guitar 4-Tune, Trio lyrical artists.
These events are organized by the Music Ensembles and the Third Programme of Greek Radio.
At 8:30 pm, the ERT Choir will present Dodecanese musical works by G. Constantinides and excerpts from compositions by Javier Busto and Lajos Bardos, in the ground floor lobby of the Museum in view of the Hekatompedos pediment. Conductor: Dimitris Bouzanis.
At 9:30 pm, the ERT Contemporary Music Orchestra and the ERT Choir will perform works of Theodorakis, Hatzidakis, Papadimitriou and Xarchakos, in the Museum’s entrance courtyard. Conductor: Andreas Pylarinos, Solist: Dimitris Basis.
