Epithet of the goddess Hekate that specified her as the protectress of towers. A cult statue of the goddess stood on the Acropolis on the tower of the Temple of Athena Nike or in front of the Propylaia, at the sanctuary entrance. The statue was the work of the sculptor Alcamenes and portrayed her in three forms in order to emphasise both her triple nature as a deity of the sky, earth and underworld, and her ability to exert her apotropaic power towards three different directions.
