Loutrophoros-hydria decorated in the black-figure technique. It was found in 1957 in the Sanctuary of the Nymphe in fragments and was reassembled and restored.

The vase’s neck is decorated with five figures: a woman between two men is talking to the one she is facing, while two more women -one on each side- flank them. These women’s vivid gestures may indicate their participation in the conversation. The decoration on the body of the vase is organised in broad zones. On one side of the shoulder two opposing Sphinxes are depicted, and on the other side rosettes. On the vase’s belly a hen is depicted among two roosters on one side and on the other two sitting Sphinxes flank a young man who has his chlamys thrown over the shoulder.

The lower part of the vessel is adorned with rays, while the rest of the loutrophoros’ exterior surface is filled with floral ornaments and tongue motifs.
