Loutrophoros-amphora decorated in the black-figure technique. It was found in 1957 in the Sanctuary of the Nymphe in many fragments and was pieced together and restored.

On the neck of the vase, on each side, is depicted a pair of sitting lions turning their heads to look behind. On the vase’s body, each side is decorated with a pair of Sphinxes gazing one another. Lower on the body two bands are decorated with engraved rosettes and rays respectively, while the base is adorned with birds raising their wings.

The vase-painter who created this loutrophoros has been influenced by the manner of the Painter of Eleusis 767.
