Base for a dedication pieced together from many fragments and restored. Most fragments were discovered in 1886 in the so-called "Korai Pit" northwest of the Erechtheion. One fragment was located southeast of the Parthenon, near the old Acropolis Museum.

The base is in the form of a column crowned by an ionic capital. On the capital’s upper surface there is an oblong cut for the insertion of the dedication. In the column’s flutes an epigram has been vertically inscribed: [ΑΛ]ΚΙΜΑΧΟΣ ΜΑΝΕΘΕΚΕ ΔΙΟΣ ΚΟΡΕΙ ΤΟΔΑΓΑΛΜΑ [ΕΥ]ΧΟΛΕΝ ΕΣΘΛΟ ΔΕ ΠΑΤΡΟΣ HΥΣ ΧΑΙΡΙΟΝΟΣ ΕΠΕΥΧΕΤΑΙ ΕΝΑ[Ι], meaning “Alkimachos, Charion’s son, proud of his famous father, dedicated me to Zeus' daughter as an offering, to please the goddess”. The goddess implied by the “Zeus’s daughter” is Athena. Due to a miscalculation the inscription was carved quite high on the column and thus its two first letters are covered by the capital.

Charion was most likely the known offspring of an old Athenian family, who served as a treasurer of the Sanctuary of Athena in 550 BC. Some scholars believe that the dedication set up on the column, was the statue of the scribe Ακρ. 629, considered to represent a treasurer. Others, however, based on the technical characteristics of the notch on the upper surface meant to receive the dedication, disassociate this base from the scribe statue.
