Fragment from a red-figure hydria decorated with the goddess Athena.

On the fragment’s exterior the goddess in a fighting position moves forward looking at the same time upwards. Around her right arm she has a bracelet in the form of a snake and behind her is seen her partially preserved spear. Athena is clad in a chiton over which she wears a scaly aegis framed with small snakes along its hem. She has a diadem adorned with meander on her head and Attic-type helmet with a high crest beneath which project her curly locks of hair.
