Marathon - Salamis. In traces of myth and history

What were the Persian wars and what is their significance for the western world? Who were the colliding opponents and how did they clash? Who were the leading participants and what was the role played by gods and goddesses? Would there be a battle in Salamis without the one of Marathon? What was the price that Acropolis paid and how was it transfigured into creation? Finally, how are the great moments of history depicted in the exhibits of the Acropolis Museum?

The thematic presentation “Marathon-Salamis. In traces of myth and history” provides answers to these and other questions. With this presentation the Acropolis Museum celebrates the anniversary of 2.500 years since the Salamis’s naval battle.
