Intact protome of a female surmounted on a plaque. It was found in 1957 in the Sanctuary of the Nymphe. The woman has an elongated face, narrow forehead and long hair rendered schematically. On the head she has a high polos with a suspension hole at the top. The figurine’s surface retains a few traces of red colour.

Terracotta female protomes are usually encountered as offerings in public sanctuaries dedicated primarily to female deities; as ritualistic objects in domestic shrines; as objects with apotropaic or decorative character in private households and as grave offerings in women's and children's burials. Their interpretation is uncertain since they are sometimes considered depictions of deities and other times of mere mortals.
