Female Tanagra figurine mended and restored from fragments found in 1955 and 1957 in the Sanctuary of the Nymphe. It comes from a loutrophoros of the 4th cent. BC decorated in the red-figure technique and added figurines.

The figurine depicts a woman dressed in a long chiton and tightly wrapped himation covering also her hands and head. The garments retain traces of white slip and black paint. Her uncovered face, in combination with her still covered hair, might suggest that she is the bride depicted after she revealed her face. The figurine’s front side was made in a mould whereas the back side was left unfinished so that it could be directly placed on the loutrophoros’ body.
