It was the commonest cooking ware throughout antiquity. Found in 1960 on the Acropolis south slope, this pot is mended from many fragments and restored.

It is round-bottomed so it could be placed over a brazier, its body is bulbous, the handle vertical and the rim outturned. The pot surface is burnt due to its direct contact with flames.
