It was the commonest cooking ware during antiquity. This pot was retrieved in 1961 during the excavation of the Angelopoulos plot south of the Acropolis. It is mended from many fragments and restored

Its bottom is rounded so that it could be placed over a brazier and the body squat and globular. The horizontal rolled handles rise above the rim which is outturned. The fire traces on the exterior are almost black due to the vessel’s direct contact with the flames.
