It was the commonest cooking ware during antiquity. This pot was found almost intact in 1957 on the south slope of the Acropolis.

It is round-bottomed so that it could be placed over a brazier. It has a globular body, vertical handle and outturned rim. The exterior is covered with brown-red paint and some parts of it bear fire traces due to the vessel’s direct contact with flames.
