As part of the aesthetic improvement of the bases and supports used for the Museum’s sculptures, a modification of the so-called "Calf-Bearer" (Ακρ. 624) was carried out, with simultaneous conservation and aesthetic restoration of the sculpture’s fragments and modern in-fillings. During the removal of the plaster and limestone in-fillings, which had previously been installed in place of the missing lower legs, important elements of the sculpture's original attachment to its base were revealed. After many months of study, a new, unique system of six vertical, stainless steel supports was created, designed in accordance with the fundamental principles of modern interventions, which has greatly enhanced the work’s aesthetic appearance. In addition, based on a meticulous study of the statue’s proportions, its height was redefined from 1.61 to 1.65 m.
