The Panathenaic festival

The Panathenaic festival, held by all Athenians in honour of the goddess Athena on the Acropolis, was the most representative event of the ancient city. Together with the Archaeologist-Hosts, visitors will explore the material testimonies of this festival in the Museum’s galleries, and discuss its forms and content, its evolution in time, its significance in the lives of the city’s inhabitants, as well as the participants in its events, and its spectators.
