In the context of the Acropolis Museum’s ongoing investigations concerning the post-antique misadventures of the Parthenon sculptures, the Museum presents a talk by two scholars long familiar with Ottoman imperial archives, Profs. Zeynep Aygen and Orhan Sakin. They discuss their research in the Ottoman Archives of Constantinople, where they have uncovered important information illuminating life on the Acropolis at the beginning of the 19th century. Among the materials being discussed are documents, originals and copies, relating to Lord Elgin and the Ottoman Empire. The presentation took place in the Museum's auditorium on 19 February, 2019. It was held in English.
