Head of a ram from the decoration of the nozzle of a luxurious marble lamp. Part of the animal’s snout and the right horn are missing. On the head’s upper surface there is a triangular cavity to receive the wick. The ram has its eyes placed on the sides of its head; small and pointy ears, and twisting horns.

The intense burn marks on the marble’s surface were probably caused when the Persians set fire to the Acropolis in 480 BC. This ram head possibly comes from the same lamp as Ακρ. 226.
