Bibliography

Fragment from relief plaque that depicts Apollo with his guitar. It was found during the excavations conducted on the Acropolis.

Apollo stands in front of a bed facing to the right. He wears chiton and himation. He has his guitar in his left hand and in the right the plectrum, with which he struck the instrument strings. All over the plaque’s surface is retained white slip which was used as the undercoat for the final hues. Traces of light-blue and red colour are also preserved.
