Head and part of the neck of a handmade ox figurine. Its precise find location on the Acropolis is not known. Its horns are pointy and the long snout rounded. The animal’s characteristics are accentuated with brown-black lines and dots.
Ox figurines of this type are frequently retrieved at sanctuaries and are considered to symbolise fertility and agricultural life. On the Acropolis they were most possibly dedications made by individuals to the Mycenean fertility goddess, perhaps Athena.
