It was the commonest cooking ware during antiquity. This pot was found intact in 1937 on the north slope of the Acropolis. It is round-bottomed so that it could be placed over a brazier, its body is globular, the handle vertical and the rim flaring. The fire traces all over the surface are due to the vessel’s direct contact with flames.
