Found in 1937 on the Acropolis north slope, it has been mended from many fragments and restored. It is round-bottomed so it could be placed over a brazier and the rolled horizontal handles are set on the shoulder. Between them, at the front, there is a dummy spout which is not pierced through to body and its exact use remains uncertain. Either a wooden shaft fitted in it, facilitating the removal of the pot from the fire, or it held the spoon with which the food was stirred. The straight lip, tilted outward, is flanged inside to receive a lid. The surface of the pot is burnt due to its direct contact with flames.
