Female protome that surmounts a plaque found in 1957 in the Sanctuary of the Nymphe. It is mended of fragments and restored. The figure’s face is elongated, the eyes almond-shaped and the hair worn in locks which cover part of the forehead. Two suspension holes are opened in the plaque’s upper corners and all over the surface traces of white slip and red colour are preserved.

Terracotta female protomes are usually encountered as offerings in public sanctuaries dedicated primarily to female deities; as ritualistic objects in domestic shrines; as objects with apotropaic or decorative character in private households and as grave offerings in women's and children's burials. Their interpretation is uncertain since they are sometimes considered depictions of deities and other times of mere mortals.
