Part of a loutrophoros decorated in the red-figure technique. It was found in 1957 in the Sanctuary of the Nymphe in fragments and was pieced together. The discoloration of the background was caused by the firing conditions in the kiln.

It depicts an epavlia scene. The bride has one shoulder uncovered and holds a heart shaped fan. She receives wedding presents in her new house. A winged Eros approaches to offer her a wreath, while in his other hand he probably holds a phiale and cloth, similar to the one decorating the wall of the room. The presence of Eros is a subtle symbol for the sexual arousal that accompanies the couple’s union. Behind Eros, a woman carries a small box and further to the back, two winged female figures hold a drum and a small box respectively. These winged figures that frame the scene symbolise the bride’s “flight” to her new life.
