Part of a loutrophoros decorated in the black-figure technique. It was found in 1957 in the Sanctuary of the Nymphe in fragments, was reassembled and restored.

It depicts the transportation of the bride to the groom’s home with the escort of gods, whose presence adds prestige and emphasises the sanctity of marriage. The groom boards the quadriga the bride is already on. In front of the chariot, in his role as the proegetes, Hermes, with winged sandals and a caduceus, crouches. Next to the chariot stands Apollo with a guitar in his hands, ready to accompany the hymenaios song. In front of him Dionysos wearing a vine wreath is walking, while a woman to the right probably welcomes the procession. The scene’s background is covered with ivy branches, whereas below it, there are horizontal bands and rosettes.
