Omphalos phiale, reassembled and restored. On the exterior the decoration is rendered in relief since the vessel had been hammed on from its inner surface. It consists of long petals and possibly lotus flowers. Just below the rim there is a narrow band with lattice pattern framed by narrower dotted bands.
On the rim’s upper side an etched inscription states: HΕΡΜΟΓΕΝΕΣ ΑΝΕΘΕΚΕΝ ΑΠΑ[ΡΧ]ΕΝ [ΤΑΘΕ]ΝΑΑΙ, meaning “Hermogenes dedicated it to Athena as aparche”.
