Fragment from the front part of a woman’s statue smaller than life size. It was found near the Erechtheion before 1829.

The figure has almond-shaped eyes, fine arched brows and the distinctive smile of the time known as the “Archaic smile”. The hair, which retains traces of red colour and is parted in the middle, forms curling locks over the forehead. She has a tall stephane or polos on her head that preserves traces of a painted meander.

The statue to which belongs the head has been interpreted as a Kore, goddess or Sphinx. Some researchers consider it to be the work of the artist that made the “Rampin rider” (Ακρ. 590), the “Peplos Kore” (Ακρ. 679), the statues of the hounding dogs (Ακρ. 143, Ακρ. 525 and Ακρ. 550) as well as other Acropolis sculptures
