Ionic capital that crowned one of the columns framing the central passageway of the Propylaia on the Acropolis. It is mended of many fragments and preserves the echinus, a big part of the volutes and the proskephalaia.

The echinus was adorned with inlaid bronze ornaments, perhaps flowers and palmettes today lost. This capital is so carefully carved and bears such sophisticated decoration that renders it one of the finest examples of classical architecture.
